Carter-J Murphy, a 10-year-old boy who plays a young Robbie Williams in the biopic Better Man, has described meeting the singer at the film’s European premiere in London as “amazing.”
The young actor, from Failsworth in Oldham, also stars as Harry Platt in Coronation Street, the son of Sarah Platt and Callum Logan.
Carter-J began his acting journey at the age of three through dance school and soon fell in love with acting, leading him to pursue a career in the field.
He shared that his rise to fame in the past year has been “mental” and expressed how proud his mother, Abbie, is of him.
Abbie commented on the surreal experience of having her son cast in Coronation Street, saying, “Being from Manchester, you grow up watching Coronation Street, so when your child gets cast as one of the Platts, it’s just crazy.”
At the premiere of Better Man, Carter-J met Robbie Williams, who he described as “really nice” and supportive.
Reflecting on playing a younger version of the singer, Carter-J said he enjoyed the role, noting that he felt he was “more like him” and tried to think about how Robbie would feel in different situations.
After a busy year, Carter-J is looking forward to taking two weeks off from filming Coronation Street for Christmas and enjoying some well-earned downtime.
