Jack Bobby, a 13-year-old schoolboy from Pensford, has set his sights on performing a DJ set at Glastonbury Festival next year after launching an impressive early career in the music industry. Jack, who received his first set of decks at just eight years old, played his first professional gig in Bristol by the age of 12. Recently, he spent four weeks performing in Ibiza and even rubbed shoulders with legendary DJ Fatboy Slim.
Jack’s passion for DJing took off during lockdown when his sister gifted him the decks. “I started having a play around and thought, ‘I’m actually all right at this’,” Jack recalled. He described his style as “technical,” enjoying creating remixes and making drops more “appetising” for the crowd. “When I get up there, I click. I’m like a whole different person, and all my worries disappear.”
He also shared his dream of performing at Glastonbury, saying, “Headlining the main stage would be a dream. A DJ hasn’t done it before.”
Jack’s mother, Lisa, expressed her pride in her son’s accomplishments, crediting his love for music to the old-school house tapes she had at home from her aerobics teaching days. Reflecting on his recent Ibiza trip, she said, “For a 13-year-old, he was just sun, sea, and swimming every single day, doing what Jack loves. He met incredible people, including Fatboy Slim.”
