A former fan of Kanye West has taken legal action against the multifaceted artist, filing a lawsuit for battery and assault related to an alleged attack that transpired in January 2022.
The lawsuit claims that West physically struck the man in downtown Los Angeles approximately two years ago, with the incident reportedly captured on video.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the plaintiff contends that West, during the altercation, uttered threatening words, stating: “I’m going to make a fucking example of you.” Notably, the rapper also made a reference to Kim Kardashian, months before their divorce was officially finalized.
The 31-second video footage depicts the autograph seeker lying on the pavement outside while West engages in a heated exchange with a woman, identified as his cousin.
In the clip, West shouts at the woman, claiming, “You were supposed to talk to her!” The disagreement escalates as both parties move into an alley with a small group of individuals.

The alleged victim asserts that he requested an apology from West, to which the Grammy Award-winning artist responded with, “Apology for what?” Subsequently, West reportedly struck the man repeatedly, causing severe injuries.
Despite a member of West’s entourage urging him to cease the assault, he allegedly directed them to “go to the fucking house and get my fucking kids.”
The lawsuit seeks damages for assault and battery, citing emotional suffering caused by the altercation. While the autograph seeker declined immediate medical attention at the scene, he later sought care at an urgent care facility. The LAPD is reportedly investigating the incident.
Additionally, the man’s wife has initiated a separate lawsuit against West, alleging a loss of consortium. She claims that her husband’s companionship was compromised as a result of the altercation with West in 2022.
