Katie Gaudreau is cherishing precious memories of her late brothers Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, who tragically lost their lives in a Jeep accident while biking in New Jersey on August 29, just a day before Katie’s wedding. The grieving sister took to Instagram on September 10 to pay tribute to her beloved siblings with nostalgic throwback photos.
“Missing my boys,” Katie shared in an Instagram Story, alongside a touching snapshot of her brothers, older sister Kristen, and their parents. “Take me back here.” In another heartfelt post, she reposted a collage from Kristen’s private account, featuring childhood school photos, with the caption, “Forever us four.”
Katie’s emotional posts come in the wake of bittersweet family news. On September 9, Johnny’s widow, Meredith Gaudreau, revealed at a memorial service in Media, Pennsylvania, that she is expecting her third child with Johnny. “John and I had the best six months as a family of four,” Meredith said. “These will forever be the best six months of my life. We’re actually a family of five now. I’m in my ninth week of pregnancy with our third baby.”
Meredith, who is already a mother to Noa, 23 months, and Johnny, 7 months, with the late hockey star, recounted how thrilled Johnny was about their “total surprise” pregnancy. “In less than three years of marriage, we’ve created a family of five,” she continued. “It doesn’t even sound possible, but I look at it as the ultimate blessing. How lucky am I to be the mother of John’s three babies? Our last one is a blessing and so special despite these difficult circumstances.”
Adding to the family’s joy, Madeline Gaudreau, Matthew’s widow, is also expecting the couple’s first baby, a boy named Tripp, as shared on a GoFundMe page.
Amid these developments, Katie Gaudreau is committed to keeping her brothers’ memory alive. “This will never be a goodbye post because I will never stop saying your names and honoring you both,” she vowed in an Instagram caption from September 2. “I’ll take the best care of mom, dad, Kristen, Mer, Madeline, and your babies.”
Reflecting on her brothers, Katie expressed, “To know these two was to love these two. There are absolutely no words I have to express the bond my family shared. The entire world knows there would never have been a John without Matty or Matty without John. The absolute best big brothers a little girl could have asked for.”
