For Zayn Malik, his daughter Khai holds a special place in his life story. The former One Direction singer, who shares the 4-year-old with ex-partner Gigi Hadid, refers to Khai as “the most important person” in his life.
In a touching Instagram post on September 19, Zayn, 31, expressed his deep love for his daughter on her birthday. “I love you more than words allow me to express, beyond proud to call you my daughter,” he wrote. “Grateful for every second I get to spend next to you, as you become the incredible person I know you already are.”
The singer also shared a sweet photo of himself holding Khai on the beach, reflecting on how his life changed when she was born. “Four years ago today my life changed forever, and I wouldn’t be the man I am today without you,” Zayn added.
Khai’s birthday celebration was equally magical. Her mother, Gigi Hadid, shared photos of a fun-filled week, highlighting a massive cake shaped like Baby Yoda (Grogu) from Star Wars. Gigi described her daughter’s love for animals, music, nature, and “all things squishy or miniature,” adding that Khai would spend every day in the water if she could.
“Our girl is 4 today and we celebrated all week!” Gigi wrote on Instagram. “It is my life’s greatest joy and pride to be your mama!!!! You remind me to live life to the fullest every day in the most simple and beautiful ways.”
Gigi and Zayn, who dated on and off for five years, welcomed Khai in 2020. Although they ended their romantic relationship in 2021, they continue to co-parent successfully, sharing 50/50 custody of their daughter. Gigi, who is currently dating actor Bradley Cooper, previously said that having Khai spend time with both parents makes her “very happy.”
Zayn has also spoken positively about their co-parenting dynamic, saying in a July 2023 episode of Call Her Daddy that it’s “really good.” He described himself as a hands-on father, expressing a desire to spend as much time as possible with Khai. “If I could get 60 percent, I would have it,” he said.
