Björn Ulvaeus, the 79-year-old Swedish pop legend and member of Abba, has married his partner, Christina Sas, in a ceremony hosted by comedian and broadcaster Sandi Toksvig. The couple met in 2021 in Nuremberg, Germany, during the release of Abba’s final album Voyage and began dating in the spring of 2022.
The wedding took place on September 21, 2024, in Copenhagen, surrounded by close friends and family. Ulvaeus shared several photos from the special day on Instagram, including one of Toksvig officiating the ceremony, dressed in red robes, standing alongside Ulvaeus, who wore a suit, and Sas, who was elegantly dressed in a green wrap dress.
TV presenter Toksvig, a longtime friend of Ulvaeus, made the day “extra special,” according to the groom. The two had previously worked together on Mamma Mia: The Party! in 2018. Broadcaster Gyles Brandreth, who attended the event, also shared his excitement on Instagram, saying he had “loved meeting” Ulvaeus and Sas for his Rosebud podcast.
Ulvaeus, one quarter of the iconic Swedish group Abba, recently celebrated 50 years since their landmark victory at the Eurovision Song Contest with their hit Waterloo. The group, composed of two couples—Ulvaeus and Agnetha Fältskog, and Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad—disbanded in 1982 after both couples divorced. Ulvaeus and Fältskog were married from 1971 until 1980 and share two children, Linda, 49, and Peter, 44.
Ulvaeus’ second marriage to Lena Kallersjo lasted from 1981 to 2022 before he met Sas. Though Abba did not reform to perform at the 2024 Eurovision in Malmo, Sweden, their legacy continues to shine brightly, as Ulvaeus embarks on this new chapter in his personal life.
