Actress Marianne Jean-Baptiste and director Mike Leigh have come together once again for a powerful new film, marking their first collaboration in nearly 30 years.
Their latest project, titled Hard Truths, tells the story of an irritable woman whose persistent unhappiness takes a significant toll on those around her.
The film premiered at the London Film Festival on Monday evening.
Leigh and Jean-Baptiste previously teamed up for the acclaimed 1996 film Secrets & Lies, which earned multiple Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actress.
Their new film, which faced rejections from other film festivals, is generating buzz and could potentially place both Leigh and Jean-Baptiste back in the running for Academy Awards recognition.
