In the latest episode of Sister Wives, which aired on October 20, Kody Brown was back with his signature blend of self-justification and controversy.
During a confessional, he shifted the blame for his lack of affection onto his wives and exes, stating, “Don’t blame me for not loving you. I was doing my duty. Blame yourself if I don’t love you, OK?”
Kody continued this unusual logic, asserting, “When I’m in love with a woman, that’s her fault. So what happens when I’m not in love with a woman? Is that just my fault?”
He elaborated on his feelings, explaining that when he is enamored with a woman, he goes out of his way to make her feel special—cooking, serving, and showering her with gifts—and implied that those actions should reflect positively on the woman.
Tensions escalated during his visit with his first wife, Meri Brown, where they discussed her decision to file for an official marital termination from their church after 32 years of spiritual marriage.
Kody and Meri, who first married in 1990, divorced in 2014 to enable Kody to legally marry Robyn Brown and adopt her children.
Their relationship has been strained for years, and after Christine and Janelle Brown also ended their marriages with Kody, Meri officially ended things in late 2022.
Kody expressed his displeasure with the church’s terminology surrounding their split, particularly the use of the word “abandonment.”
He mentioned, “I did say I could fake through it,” but Meri dismissed this notion, retorting, “Yeah, I’m not interested in faking a relationship.”
