Alexis Bellino, star of The Real Housewives of Orange County, has always prioritized faith and family, and her perspective on the LGBTQI+ community has evolved through her relationship with her transgender son, Miles.
During the season 18 reunion of the Bravo series on Nov. 14, Alexis opened up about how her son’s journey has influenced her views.
“My son’s transition hasn’t changed my mind about LGBTQ or that everyone should have their own right to live their life the way they want,”
Alexis shared with host Andy Cohen. “What it has done is made me understand the pain that comes with judgment from others. It’s made me more vocal about supporting the community.”
Despite her outspoken support for LGBTQI+ rights, Alexis emphasized that her commitment to her Christian faith has remained unwavering.
“I don’t like to use the word ‘religion’—I think it has a negative connotation. I’m very spiritual, and I love my God,” she explained.
The 47-year-old also defended her previous comments on RHOC, where she stated that she puts God first in her relationships.
“That’s the way God wants it to be,” she said. “It’s supposed to be God, then your spouse, and then your kids.
That’s how it works best in a marriage. I do have those values, and if you believe in something higher than yourself, you’re going to be a better person.”
Alexis, who is now engaged to RHOC costar Shannon Beador’s ex-boyfriend John Janssen, also shared a funny moment from her family’s reaction to the engagement.
She recalled sending a picture of her engagement ring to the family, only to receive a text from Miles that read, “WTF.”
He followed up with, “CALL ME NOW,” demanding to know if John had asked for his permission. After some playful back-and-forth, Miles gave his approval, saying, “Yeah, I love you.”
Additionally, costar Heather Dubrow expressed her appreciation for Alexis, noting how they have bonded over their shared experiences as mothers of LGBTQIA+ children.
“She’s been an incredibly solid sounding board for me,” Heather shared, “and I appreciate it.”
