British superstar Adele concluded her two-year Las Vegas residency on Saturday night with a tearful farewell during her 100th and final show at Caesars Palace.
Performing to a sold-out crowd at the 4,000-capacity Colosseum Theatre, the 36-year-old expressed both sadness and gratitude as she reflected on the experience.
“I’m so sad this residency is over, but I am so glad that it happened,” Adele told the audience, adding, “I will miss it terribly, I will miss you terribly. I don’t know when I next want to perform again.”
The residency, which began in late 2022, was originally set to start in January that year but faced delays due to a Covid outbreak among production staff and set completion issues.
Over the course of her residency, Adele delivered countless memorable moments, including a heartwarming encounter with her idol, Celine Dion, and a viral moment when she defended a fan singing enthusiastically during a performance of Water Under the Bridge.
Despite its success, the residency also came with challenges.
In June, Adele scolded an audience member for making anti-Pride remarks during a show, later admitting she was more prone to irritation these days, joking, “I’m old and grumpy now.”
Adele has openly shared that the residency has been emotionally and physically draining, and she plans to take an extended break from music.
Speaking to German broadcaster ZDF earlier this year, she revealed, “My tank is quite empty at the minute. I don’t have any plans for new music at all. I want a big break after all this and I think I want to do other creative things just for a little while.”
The London-born singer, whose albums 19, 21, 25, and 30 have achieved global acclaim, has also expressed her discomfort with fame, saying, “I miss everything about before I was famous, probably being anonymous the most. The fame side of it, I absolutely hate.”
Adele hinted at her post-music plans in 2022, revealing she aims to study English Literature in 2025.
She shared during a Q&A in Los Angeles, “If I hadn’t made it singing, I think I would be an English lit teacher. I wish I’d gone to university, but I will do it online with a tutor.”
As Adele takes a step back from the spotlight, her fans are left with unforgettable memories of her residency, from powerful performances to heartfelt interactions.
While her future in music remains uncertain, her passion for storytelling and creativity ensures she will continue to leave a lasting impact.
