After ten weeks of intense competition, the winner of the 2024 series of The Great British Bake Off has been crowned.
In the final, Georgie Grasso, 34, from Carmarthenshire, triumphed over finalists Christiaan and Dylan, making history as the first Welsh contestant to win the prestigious baking competition.
Georgie, who had struggled with self-doubt throughout the competition, was overwhelmed with emotion upon her victory.
She expressed her disbelief, saying, “I have won it, I can’t believe it. This is just incredible.”
The final challenge saw the bakers create scones, an afternoon tea, and a tiered celebration cake.
Georgie’s classic British bakes impressed the judges, with Prue Leith praising her for executing “classic British baking beautifully,” while Paul Hollywood called her cake “full of flavour and full of life.”
Georgie, who dedicated countless hours to perfecting her craft, reflected on her journey, acknowledging the sacrifices she made and the pride she felt in her achievement.
“I am just so proud of myself,” she said, adding that the friendships she formed during the competition would last a lifetime.
The other finalists, Christiaan and Dylan, were also celebrated for their impressive performances throughout the series.
