Amazon MGM Studios has officially announced that veteran producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman will lead the production of the next James Bond movie, marking the company’s first full creative control over the iconic franchise.
Pascal, renowned for producing the recent Spider-Man films starring Tom Holland, and Heyman, the mastermind behind all eight Harry Potter movies, bring significant experience to the project.
Their appointment follows the departure of Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who stepped down in February after decades of overseeing the Bond legacy.
In a joint statement, Pascal and Heyman acknowledged the franchise’s rich history:
“We are humbled to follow in the footsteps of Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, who made so many extraordinary films. We are honoured and excited to keep the spirit of Bond alive as he embarks on his next adventure.”
Amazon MGM Studios’ Courtenay Valenti praised the duo as “two of the most accomplished, experienced, and respected film producers in our industry.”
With Daniel Craig’s departure after No Time to Die (2021), speculation over the next 007 has been intense. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos even asked his X (formerly Twitter) followers who they thought should take on the role. Among the current frontrunners are:
James Norton (Happy Valley)
Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, Bullet Train)
Theo James (The White Lotus)
However, no timeline has been set for casting or production of the next film.
Beyond Bond, the powerhouse producers are involved in major upcoming projects:
Pascal recently produced Challengers starring Zendaya and the Spider-Verse animated films.
Heyman is working on HBO’s Harry Potter TV series and Taika Waititi’s film adaptation of Klara and the Sun, starring Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams.
Together, they are also producing Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly, starring George Clooney and Adam Sandler.
With Pascal and Heyman now at the helm, Bond fans eagerly await the next chapter of the legendary spy franchise under Amazon MGM Studios.
