Infant Annihilator is an English deathcore band hailing from Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, and was founded in 2012 by drummer Aaron Kitcher and guitarist Eddie Pickard.
This band has gained prominence for its unique, technically challenging, and extreme musical style. Their lyrics are often parodistic and filled with satirical, graphic content, and they incorporate shock humor into their work. Furthermore, Infant Annihilator is known for their music videos, which frequently feature explicit and ribald themes.
In 2012, they released their debut album, “The Palpable Leprosy of Pollution,” which notably featured American vocalist Dan Watson. This marked the only album where Watson contributed his vocals. Following this, they replaced him with Massachusetts native Dickie Allen and produced their second album, “The Elysian Grandeval Galèriarch,” which was recorded and mixed by Jesse Kirkbride at his home studio, Kirkbride Recordings, and released in 2016. Their third album, “The Battle of Yaldabaoth,” saw the light of day on September 11, 2019.
Hysteria Magazine has aptly described Infant Annihilator as an Internet band. Although they have not ruled out touring, they have thus far exclusively operated as a studio project.
History:
Formation and Debut Album “The Palpable Leprosy of Pollution” (2012–2013):
The inception of Infant Annihilator took place in 2012 in Hessle, near Kingston upon Hull, when guitarist Eddie Pickard and drummer Aaron Kitcher joined forces. The name “Infant Annihilator” was inspired by a song of the same name, originally composed by Kitcher’s previous band, As the Blessed Fall.
They selected this name in a tongue-in-cheek fashion, as a playful jab at the stereotypical names associated with death metal bands. In their own words during a 2016 interview, “We wanted the song names and band name to be as completely over-the-top as our music.”
Pickard and Kitcher embarked on a journey of writing and creating homemade recordings using recording software on Pickard’s computer. They took on the responsibility of writing, recording, and editing the instrumental tracks for their debut album, “The Palpable Leprosy of Pollution” (often abbreviated as “The PLOP”). After sharing instrumental tracks online, they crossed paths with American vocalist Dan Watson from Indiana, who discovered Infant Annihilator through Facebook. Impressed by Watson’s performance, Pickard and Kitcher invited him to lend his vocal talents to the album.
Their work quickly gained viral popularity online, amassing around 20,000 “likes” within just one month of releasing the music video for their track, “Decapitation Fornication.”
