Anglesey singer Megan Wyn has described her shock and excitement after being chosen to support Alanis Morissette at her upcoming Cardiff concert.
The 20-year-old indie-pop artist revealed that her mother was so overwhelmed by the news that she burst into tears.
Morissette, the Grammy-winning Canadian icon, is set to perform in the Welsh capital on 2 July.
Due to unprecedented demand, the concert has been moved from Cardiff Castle to Blackweir Fields, which can accommodate up to 35,000 fans.
For Wyn, the opportunity is especially meaningful, as she grew up listening to Morissette’s music.
“It’s unbelievable, I can’t believe it,” she told BBC Radio Wales Breakfast. “It’s nuts. I never thought I’d get to support her.”
Morissette, now 50, became a global sensation with her 1995 album Jagged Little Pill, featuring hits like Ironic, Hand In My Pocket, and Head Over Feet.
Wyn, determined to give a memorable performance, said she and her band would approach the show like any other gig.
“Once I start thinking about it as something completely different, I think that’s when things go wrong,” she laughed. “We’re just going to put on the best show we can.”
US rock singer Liz Phair will also be performing ahead of Morissette’s headline set.
Organisers described the demand for tickets as “like nothing we have experienced previously,” prompting the venue change to accommodate the overwhelming interest.
For Wyn, this marks a major milestone in her career, and with her mother’s emotional reaction, it’s clear the moment carries deep personal significance.
