Ariana Grande recently shared her thoughts on the leaks of her unreleased music and gave insight into her upcoming album during an interview with the Zach Sang Show.
Grande, who is gearing up for the release of her album “Eternal Sunshine” and her role in the film adaptation of “Wicked,” revealed that she initially had no plans to record a new album after her 2020 release “Positions.”
She had intended to focus on her commitments for “Wicked” before diving into new music.
“I didn’t have the goal to make an album… I actually was really opposed to coming out with music until after Wicked,” Grande explained during the interview. However, the onset of the SAG-AFTRA strike prompted her to explore recording again. Collaborating with Max Martin at Jungle City Studios in New York, new music began to flow organically, leading her to change her plans and prioritize sharing her creative output.
Among the tracks born from these sessions is “Yes, And?,” the lead single from “Eternal Sunshine.”
However, Grande revealed that several other songs, including “Fantasize,” were leaked last year much to her dismay.

“Before I left for Wicked, the few studio sessions that I did, which are all, um- all over TikTok, thank you so much. I’ll see you in jail, literally,” Grande humorously remarked, expressing frustration over the leaked tracks. She clarified that “Fantasize” and other leaked songs were originally intended for a project other than her own.
Grande also addressed the phenomenon of fans purchasing unauthorized leaks from hackers, emphasizing the illegality of such actions. While she did not disclose the specific show for which “Fantasize” was intended, fans speculated it might have been for “Girls5Eva,” a series featuring Sara Bareilles.
Despite the leaks, Grande assured fans that they can anticipate fresh material when “Eternal Sunshine” drops on March 8. She hinted that some ideas from the leaked tracks made their way into the album, albeit in a transformed state.
“I kind of gave them Ariana’s version of that on the album… Some of those seedling ideas from that time actually made their way onto the album, which is really exciting but they’re completely different now,” Grande explained, highlighting the evolution of the leaked tracks into something new for her album.
