Early Years:
Chris Young’s roots trace back to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where he was born on June 12, 1985. During his formative years, he attended Trinity United Methodist Church, and his family’s musical heritage ran deep. His grandfather, Richard Yates, notably graced the stage as a performer on the iconic Louisiana Hayride.
Young’s musical inclination manifested at a tender age, and he actively participated in various children’s theater productions. During his time at Oakland High School, he not only lent his voice to the school’s choir but also began honing his musical talents by performing at local clubs. An interesting anecdote from his high school days includes his role as a mariachi singer in a performance titled “A Night at the Palladium,” where he was part of the Winter Drumline. In fact, the group even had the opportunity to perform at the Winter Guard International Tournament in Ohio in 2000.
In 2003, Young achieved national recognition when he was declared a YoungArts winner and named a Presidential Scholar of the Arts, a testament to his exceptional talents.
Even as he pursued higher education, Christopher Young continued to cultivate his musical journey, consistently touring and delivering more than 150 live performances each year.
