Eslabon Armado is an American regional Mexican group that was formed in 2017. Consisting of Pedro Tovar (lead vocals), Brian Tovar (bass), Damian Pacheco (requinto guitar), and Ulises González (acoustic guitar), the group has released six studio albums. They have achieved significant recognition, receiving multiple awards and nominations, including two Billboard Music Awards, two Billboard Latin Music Awards, and two Latin American Music Awards.
The group’s journey began in 2017 as a trio, comprising brothers Pedro Tovar and Brian Tovar, along with their friend Gabriel Hidalgo. Despite their young age, they delved into studying and performing Sierreña music, as well as other regional Mexican genres like norteño and ranchera. Influenced by their parents’ musical preferences, the trio gained attention by uploading live performance videos on platforms such as YouTube and TikTok, ultimately catching the interest of record labels. Ángel del Villar discovered the trio and signed them to DEL Records.
In 2020, Eslabon Armado released their initial singles, namely “Con Tus Besos” and “La Trokita”. Both songs made an impact on the Hot Latin Songs chart, reaching numbers 15 and 37, respectively. Their debut album, “Tu Veneno Mortal,” was released on April 6, 2020. Throughout the same year, the trio unveiled two more albums, namely “Vibras de Noche” on July 17 and “Corta Venas” on December 18. All three albums secured the top position on the Regional Mexican Albums chart, with the first two achieving platinum certification in the United States. Following the album’s release, Gabriel Hidalgo departed from the group.
Their fourth album, “Tu Veneno Mortal, Vol. 2,” was released on June 25, 2021. In September 2021, Ulises González joined the group, resulting in a trio formation once again. During that year, they also collaborated with DannyLux on the song “Jugaste y Sufrí,” which gained substantial success by peaking at number 69 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, marking their first appearance on the chart. At the 2021 Billboard Latin Music Awards, Eslabon Armado won the awards for Duo/Group Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year and Regional Mexican Album of the Year (for “Tu Veneno Mortal”). Moreover, they emerged victorious at the Latin American Music Awards of 2021, securing the awards for Favorite Duo or Group and Favorite Regional Mexican Duo or Group.
In early 2022, Damian Pacheco joined the group, and on May 5, 2022, they released “Nostalgia,” their fifth consecutive album to claim the number-one spot on the Regional Mexican Albums chart. Notably, “Nostalgia” also peaked at number 9 on the Billboard 200 chart, making it the first Regional Mexican album to achieve a top 10 position on that chart.
In March 2023, Eslabon Armado released the song “Ella Baila Sola,” featuring singer Peso Pluma. The song gained viral popularity on TikTok and reached number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, marking its highest position on the chart and making it the first Regional Mexican song to reach such a significant position. Additionally, “Ella Baila Sola” topped the Hot Latin Songs chart, marking the group’s first number-one song on that chart.
