Hillsong Worship, formerly known as Hillsong Live, is a renowned praise and worship collective originating from Sydney, Australia, and Orange County, California. The group was formed in 1983 at Hillsong Church, where they began their musical journey. Their impressive achievements include fifteen songs appearing on the esteemed Billboard magazine charts in the United States. Notably, their song “What a Beautiful Name” (2016) achieved platinum status in the US, representing their greatest success thus far. Hillsong Worship consists of esteemed members such as Darlene Zschech, Marty Sampson, Brooke Fraser, Reuben Morgan, and Joel Houston.
In 1997, Hillsong faced a legal dispute with a private security contractor over a youth event. Regrettably, Hillsong declined to compensate the security company for their rendered services.
Initially established in Sydney, Australia, in 1983 at Hillsong Church, Hillsong Worship has now expanded its presence worldwide. The individual members have pursued successful careers, including Darlene Zschech, Marty Sampson, Brooke Fraser, Reuben Morgan, and Joel Houston. Until June 2014, the group was known as Hillsong Live, after which they adopted the name Hillsong Worship.
