King Iso, the acclaimed American rapper, was born on September 10, 1990. Renowned for his dynamic and rapid delivery style, he draws inspiration from influential figures like Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and the West Coast chopper scene. Presently affiliated with Tech N9ne’s esteemed Strange Music label, King Iso previously departed Twisted Insane’s Brainsick Muzik in 2018.
Initiating his musical journey at the tender age of 13, King Iso initially performed under the moniker Reali-T. In 2013, he unveiled his inaugural mixtape, T-Virus, followed by the release of Project Iso later that same year. Subsequently adopting the name Iso, he dropped several additional mixtapes in 2014, including the notable Different series, Venom, and IKON. King Iso’s breakthrough arrived in 2015 with the release of his highly acclaimed mixtape, The Insanity Plea, following his affiliation with Brainsick Muzik. The positive reception garnered from this project prompted him to incorporate “King” into his name.
In 2016, King Iso unleashed his second album, Autophobia, which showcased collaborations with Twisted Insane, Rittz, C-Mob, and other notable artists. However, discord soon arose between King Iso and Brainsick Muzik, stemming from issues pertaining to touring and personal conflicts with Twisted Insane. During this period, he attracted the attention of Tech N9ne, who extended an invitation to collaborate on the track “Bad JuJu” for Tech’s 2018 album, Planet. Eventually parting ways with Brainsick Muzik, King Iso independently released his third album, Dementia, in the same year. Noteworthy contributors to the album include Tech N9ne, Rittz, King Kash, and others.
Continuing his creative alliance with Tech N9ne and Strange Music, King Iso made appearances on multiple tracks from Tech’s albums, such as N9NA and EnterFear. In 2020, he launched his fourth album, World War Me, marking his official debut under the Strange Music banner. The album featured collaborations with Tech N9ne, Krizz Kaliko, Jehry Robinson, and various talented artists. In 2021, he released two EPs: Entry 1: The Mind of Iso and 8 P.M. Med Call. Among the tracks on the latter EP, the single “IMH” (In My Head) candidly addresses mental health concerns.
King Iso stands out as a highly skilled and prolific rapper within the independent rap scene. His artistic journey has been marked by triumphant resilience in the face of adversities such as homelessness, incarceration, and violence. Through his music, he channels his emotions and experiences, offering solace and motivation to those facing similar struggles.
