Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, professionally known as YoungBoy Never Broke Again (NBA YoungBoy), is a highly acclaimed American rapper. From 2015 to 2017, he gained a dedicated fan base by independently releasing eight mixtapes. In August 2017, Gaulden secured a record deal with Atlantic Records. His single “Outside Today,” launched in January 2018, achieved significant success, reaching number 31 on the Billboard Hot 100. This track served as the lead single for his debut studio album, “Until Death Call My Name” (2018), which reached number 7 on the US Billboard 200.
In October 2019, Gaulden collaborated with Juice Wrld on the single “Bandit,” which became his first top-ten hit. Shortly after, he unveiled “AI YoungBoy 2” (2019), his second studio album, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. Gaulden continued his streak with “38 Baby 2” in April 2020, securing another chart-topping project. Later that year, he released his highly successful second studio album, “Top” (2020), marking his third number-one album in less than a year. Even while incarcerated, Gaulden remained unstoppable, as his album “Sincerely, Kentrell” (2021) achieved chart-topping success, making him only the third artist, alongside 2Pac and Lil Wayne, to achieve such an accomplishment from behind bars. In August 2022, his fourth studio album, “The Last Slimeto,” was launched, serving as his final release with Atlantic Records. Gaulden then signed with Motown and released his fifth album, “I Rest My Case,” in January 2023. Continuing his creative momentum, he unveiled his sixth full-length studio album, “Don’t Try This at Home,” in April 2023.
Despite Gaulden’s remarkable achievements, his career has been overshadowed by an extensive history of legal issues, which commenced in 2016. Nevertheless, he has consistently released notable projects even during periods of incarceration.
