Albert Simonyan, widely recognized by his stage name Tata (Armenian: Թաթ), was born on December 5, 1962. He is an esteemed Armenian singer-songwriter who has gained substantial popularity within the Armenian diaspora. In 2006, Simonyan earned the prestigious title of the “Honored Artist of Armenia” in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the music industry. Notably, he was also nominated for the “King of Pop” award in Moscow in 2008.
Tata’s musical journey has transcended borders, and he has captivated audiences across the globe. His performances have graced the U.S., Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Greece, the Middle East, and an impressive 45 cities in Russia. In addition to his music career, Tata has showcased his talents in several film projects.

Biography
Born in 1962 in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, Tata’s musical inclination became evident during his formative years. In 1977, he graduated from Yerevan V. Terian Secondary School No. 60, concurrently pursuing his passion for music by studying in the accordion department of the music school.
Tata’s professional journey commenced in 1980 when he embarked on his career with the “Cilicia” ensemble. In 1991, he achieved a significant milestone by releasing his debut album, titled “Yerekon Idjav.” His musical endeavors expanded when he collaborated on the “Yerevan-Moscow Transit” project, sharing the stage with renowned Russian bands such as “Otpetie Moshenniki” and “Reflex.”
Tata’s dedication and musical prowess earned him the distinguished title of “Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia” in 2006. In 2008, he embarked on the “National Star” project in partnership with the Armenia TV company, serving as its artistic director.
Throughout his illustrious career, Tata has produced eight albums, showcasing his talents as both a composer and lyricist. He has also collaborated on duets with notable artists such as Lyubov Uspenskaya, Anatoly Dneprov, Kristina Orbakaite, and Eva Rivas.
From November 2012 to April 2013, Tata took on the role of a coach for the “Voice of Armenia” project, further enriching his musical legacy.
