Tate Rosner McRae was born on Canada Day in 2003, a special date for Canadians, in Calgary, Alberta. Her heritage includes a Canadian father of Scottish descent and a mother of German descent. At the tender age of four, McRae’s family relocated to Oman due to her father’s work commitments. During her three-year stay in Oman, her mother shared her passion for dance by teaching dance lessons. It was during this time that McRae attended The American International School Muscat (TAISM).
At the age of six, Tate McRae took her initial steps into the world of dance with recreational training. Upon returning to Calgary, her dance journey intensified, starting at age eight when she began rigorous training and even ventured into dance competitions with Drewitz Dance Productions. From the age of eleven, McRae delved into various dance styles under the guidance of her mother’s dance company, YYC Dance Project. Simultaneously, she pursued ballet training at the prestigious School of Alberta Ballet, the official training institution for the Alberta Ballet Company.
Tate McRae continued to balance her academic and artistic pursuits while attending Western Canada High School.
