Christian Friedrich Johannes Büttner, professionally known as TheFatRat, is a renowned German DJ, record producer, and musician recognized for his contributions to the music industry. His unique musical style is often categorized as “glitch-hop.”

Music Career
Büttner embarked on his musical journey back in 2001, initially using his real name for music production. His early work primarily involved creating background music for various media outlets, including television, radio, and advertisements. Additionally, he contributed his musical talents to support fellow DJs.
In 2010, Büttner achieved a significant milestone by producing the hit track “Mignon Mignon” for René la Taupe, which soared to the number-one position on the singles chart in France. Around the same period, he made a notable contribution to Lupe Fiasco’s album “Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1” by producing the track “Audubon Ballroom,” which impressively secured the 5th position on the Billboard 200 chart.
The solo music career of TheFatRat officially took flight in July 2011, adopting the pseudonym that had been given to him during his youth. His debut EP, “Do Be Do Be Do,” marked the initiation of a successful solo career.
By 2016, Büttner’s musical creations were featured in an astounding 1.5 million YouTube videos. His single “Unity” gained recognition by being included in “Sounds of Syndication Vol. 1,” a compilation curated by Tom Cassell, one of the most subscribed streamers on the platform Twitch.
In November 2016, Büttner released his second EP, “Jackpot,” through the Universal Music label, making a significant impact by reaching the 23rd position on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart. A month later, he made an important stride in his career by founding his own record label, The Arcadium, in collaboration with Universal Music.
In June 2017, Büttner released the single “Fly Away,” featuring the talented vocalist Anjulie. This was followed by a memorable performance at the Electric Forest Festival in July. In October 2017, he released yet another captivating single, “Oblivion,” featuring the enchanting vocalist Lola Blanc.
The year 2018 saw the release of the single “MAYDAY” in March, while July brought the launch of “Warrior Songs,” a music pack tailored for the popular video game Dota 2. This music pack was highly anticipated and became available in the game on September 13, 2018, as confirmed by Matthew “Cyborgmatt” Bailey, the director of operations at Team Secret.
In December 2018, TheFatRat raised awareness about YouTube’s content ID system, highlighting a dispute where an anonymous user named Ramjets claimed all earnings for his song “The Calling.” Although YouTube initially upheld the claim, it was later removed. In a gesture of gratitude to the supportive YouTube community, TheFatRat announced that all his music could be freely used in creative videos on the platform, without any fear of claims or copyright strikes.
