Biography
Tribbett’s roots trace back to Camden, New Jersey, where he was born and raised in an Apostolic Pentecostal church. His upbringing was deeply influenced by his parents, with his father, Bishop Thomas Tyrone Tribbett, serving as a former pastor, and his mother, Neicy Tribbett, actively contributing as a minister and a disc jockey in the Philadelphia and New York areas.
Tye Tribbett’s musical journey took a significant turn when he toured with Faith Hill in 2000, leading to collaborations with acclaimed artists such as Will Smith, Usher, Don Henley, Justin Timberlake, and Sting. Over the years, he has released five remarkable albums, with “Greater Than,” released on August 6, 2013, earning him two prestigious Grammy awards. In 2017, he continued to captivate audiences with the release of “The Bloody Win.”
Church and Personal Life
Beyond his music career, Tye Tribbett and his wife, Shanté Tribbett, serve as pastors at the Live Church in Orlando, Florida. The couple shares a deep connection, and their faith journey has been intertwined since Shanté was a member of Greater Anointing. Together, they are proud parents of two daughters.
Tribbett’s personal life has seen its share of challenges and triumphs. In 2009, he openly acknowledged an affair with another member of his choir, a situation that led to his wife having her own affair with Christian rapper Da’ T.R.U.T.H. Yet, both couples courageously reconciled, demonstrating their commitment to love, forgiveness, and faith.
Tye Tribbett’s family extends to include his brother, Thaddaeus, a talented musician who is part of the band “Soundcheck” and frequently gigs with various artists. Additionally, he has two sisters, DeShantel Tribbett-Robinson and DeMaris Tribbett-Toy, both of whom lent their voices to the Greater Anointing choir.
Outside of his music and ministry, Tye Tribbett enjoys cherished moments with his family and maintains a healthy lifestyle through rigorous upper-body workouts.
