Former Coventry City footballer turned reality star Ashley Cain has embarked on a daring global journey in his new factual series, Ashley Cain: Into the Danger Zone.
The six-part documentary follows Cain as he immerses himself in some of the world’s most perilous environments, uncovering the harsh realities faced by young men trapped in cycles of crime and survival.
The 34-year-old from Nuneaton ventured deep into the cartel-controlled territories of Colombia, stepped inside a gang-infested prison in the Philippines, and witnessed illegal poaching operations in South Africa.
Despite the risks, Cain emphasized that the series is not just about danger but also about perspective, offering an unfiltered look into the lives of those on society’s margins.
Cain credits his late daughter, Azaylia, who passed away from a rare form of leukemia in April 2021, as the driving force behind his mission.
“I wouldn’t be doing any of this if it wasn’t for her,” he shared, explaining that his experiences have given him a deeper understanding of the struggles faced by disadvantaged communities worldwide.
Inspired by the resilience of those he met, Cain hopes to apply the lessons he learned abroad to help address issues of poverty and violence in the UK.
Among the locations he visited, the Brazilian favelas left the strongest impression.
“It was the scariest place I’ve ever been, but also the most phenomenal,” he said, recalling his childhood dream of experiencing it firsthand.
Drawing from his own troubled past and personal hardships, Cain believes he was the right person for the job.
“I could have easily gone down a path of crime, but I chose a different way. I don’t think you could have picked a better person to go into these situations.”
Ashley Cain: Into the Danger Zone promises to be a gripping and eye-opening series, shedding light on the harsh realities of those forced to navigate life on the edge.
