Ben Affleck disclosed his desire for privacy in his renewed relationship with his wife Jennifer Lopez, aiming to avoid the intense media scrutiny that characterized their romance in the early 2000s.
Affleck’s sentiments were shared in Lopez’s new Prime Video documentary, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” serving as a companion piece to her musical film “This Is Me… Now: A Love Story.”
The documentary explores their journey from breakup to reconciliation, culminating in their marriage in 2022, nearly two decades after their initial engagement ended in 2004.
Reflecting on their reunion in 2021, Affleck expressed his reluctance towards having their relationship heavily publicized, particularly on social media.
“Getting back together, I said, ‘Listen, one of the things I don’t want is a relationship on social media,'” Affleck revealed in the documentary, highlighting his desire for privacy. However, he acknowledged the complexity of such a request, likening it to marrying a boat captain while disliking the water.
Despite their differing approaches, Affleck emphasized the importance of compromise in their relationship.

“We’re just two people with different kinds of approaches trying to learn to compromise,” he remarked, underscoring their efforts to navigate their differences.
In response to Affleck’s discomfort with public attention, Lopez acknowledged his supportiveness while recognizing his reservations.
“I don’t think [Ben] is very comfortable with me doing all of this,” Lopez admitted, acknowledging Affleck’s role as her muse. She expressed gratitude for his encouragement while asserting her commitment to her artistic endeavors.
However, amidst their privacy concerns, the couple has found moments of joy and collaboration, such as their joint appearance in a Dunkin’ commercial during Super Bowl LVIII, alongside Affleck’s longtime friend and collaborator, Matt Damon.
