During a commercial break at Super Bowl VIII, Beyoncé surprised fans with a major announcement: her highly anticipated album, “Act II,” is set to be released on March 29.
The album serves as a follow-up to her critically acclaimed 2022 release, “Renaissance.”
In addition to revealing the release date, the 42-year-old singer also treated fans to two new singles, “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages,” which are now available on streaming platforms.
The commercial itself paid homage to the 1984 Wim Wenders-directed road drama “Paris, Texas.” Beyoncé was depicted driving a taxi, accompanied by a soundtrack of various country songs, before ultimately settling on her new single, “Texas Hold ‘Em.”
This marks a return to Beyoncé’s exploration of country music, a sound she first delved into with the song “Daddy Lessons” from her 2016 album “Lemonade.”
