Country music icon Billy Ray Cyrus and Australian songwriter Firerose have decided to end their marriage, less than a year after tying the knot.
According to TMZ, Cyrus, 62, filed for divorce from Firerose, 37, on May 22, citing “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct” as the primary reasons for their split.
In the divorce petition, Cyrus also requested an annulment on the grounds of alleged fraud, claiming that his consent to marriage was obtained deceitfully by Firerose.
“Husband charges that he is entitled to an annulment since he gave consent to marriage based on fraud by the wife, that had he known he would not have entered into the bonds of matrimony with his wife,” the petition stated.
Additionally, Cyrus agreed to provide financial support to Firerose during the separation. He offered to pay her $500 per night to stay at a hotel or AirBnB while she searches for alternative accommodation.
Moreover, Cyrus committed to paying Firerose $5,000 per month for up to 90 days or until the dissolution of their marriage, whichever occurs first, to assist her in obtaining suitable housing in the middle Tennessee area.
The couple’s relationship timeline began in 2022 when they started dating, followed by an engagement later that year, and culminated in their marriage in October 2023.
The news of their divorce comes amidst Billy Ray’s previous marital issues, as Tish Cyrus, mother of Miley Cyrus, filed for divorce from him in April 2022 after 28 years of marriage.
