Beloved children’s TV star Bluey, the adventurous blue heeler puppy, is making her cinematic debut in a feature film set to hit theaters in 2027.
Following its theatrical release, the film will stream on Disney+, ABC iView, and ABC Kids in Australia.
BBC Studios and Disney are collaborating on the highly anticipated project, continuing their successful partnership that began with the TV series’ launch in 2017.
The show’s creator, Joe Brumm, shared his excitement, saying, “I’ve always thought Bluey deserved a theatrical movie.
I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together.”
Bluey, who lives with her parents Bandit and Chilli and younger sister Bingo, turns everyday moments into exciting adventures, a concept that has resonated with families worldwide.
Since its debut, Bluey has become a global sensation, airing in over 140 countries and ranking as the top show on CBeebies and Disney+ in the UK.
It was also named the most-watched series globally on Disney+ this year, according to Nielsen Media Research, with over 20 billion minutes streamed in the US alone.
The show’s success has earned numerous accolades, including the prestigious Peabody Award and multiple Television Critics Association Awards in 2023 and 2024.
The film will feature the original voice cast, including Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack as Bluey’s parents, and music by series composer Joff Bush, promising fans a heartwarming and adventurous cinematic experience.
