Cardi B is speaking out against the negative comments directed at Vice President Kamala Harris following her announcement to run for President as a Democratic nominee.
Since Harris revealed her presidential bid on July 21, social media has seen a surge of inappropriate remarks about her personal life, including her dating history.
Harris, who has been married to lawyer Douglas Craig Emhoff since 2014, has faced criticism for her past relationships with television host Montell Williams and, allegedly, former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown.
Conservative podcast host Megyn Kelly made a particularly offensive remark, accusing Harris of “sleeping her way into politics and power.”
On July 23, Cardi B took to X (formerly Twitter) to challenge these attacks, questioning: “What does Kamala Harris’ husband or relationships have to do with her credentials? Do y’all hire people based on who they’re dating?”
Cardi B has consistently supported Harris, expressing her admiration for the Vice President’s candidacy. In an Instagram post on Sunday, Cardi B highlighted her early endorsement of Harris, writing: “STOP PLAYING WIT ME!!!! Check the date.. said this on JUNE 30TH. Been told y’all Kamala should’ve been the 2024 candidate. Y’all be trying to play the Bronx education, baby this what I do!!! Been my passion.. don’t let my accent fool y’all.”
In a recent video, Cardi B emphasized that Harris is well-positioned for this presidential run, stating, “I feel like they should have passed the torch to Kamala. This was the perfect moment for her … I feel like right now it would be her perfect time to shine.”
