Catherine Zeta-Jones is set to return to her hometown of Swansea to star in Kill Jackie, an upcoming revenge thriller for Amazon Prime.
The Oscar-winning actress, originally from the Mumbles, will lead the eight-part series based on The Price You Pay, a novel by Nick Harkaway written under the pseudonym Aidan Truhen.
Production is scheduled to begin in March, with filming locations spanning Swansea, Bilbao, Lisbon, and London.
Zeta-Jones, 55, will not only star in the series but also serve as an executive producer.
Expressing her excitement, she said she is “thrilled” to take on a role both in front of and behind the camera.
In Kill Jackie, she portrays Jackie Price, a glamorous jet-setter forced into hiding after fleeing her dangerous past as an international cocaine dealer.
The actress described the project as a gripping, female-driven story exploring themes of empowerment, identity, and redemption.
The series is co-produced by Fremantle and Steel Springs Pictures and is expected to premiere in 2026, though an official release date has yet to be announced.
Leading the creative team are Killing Eve director Damon Thomas and Gangs of London writer Tom Butterworth, who aims to twist and expand the novel into something “equally funny, dark, crazed, and unique.”
Zeta-Jones, widely recognized for her Oscar-winning role in Chicago (2002), The Legend of Zorro (2005), and her portrayal of Morticia Addams in Netflix’s Wednesday (2022), was honored with a CBE in 2011 for her contributions to film and charity.
Though she and her husband, Michael Douglas, own homes in California, Spain, and Swansea, her connection to Wales remains strong.
In April 2024, a simple Instagram post featuring a rainbow over the Mumbles sent Welsh fans into a frenzy, proving that no matter where she travels, Swansea is still home.
