Collin Gosselin is moving forward with his life after making serious allegations against his mother, Kate Gosselin, claiming she tied him up and locked him in the family basement during his childhood. His father, Jon Gosselin, revealed that Collin is focusing on his academic pursuits and recently began his freshman year at Penn State.
“I just saw him the other day,” Jon told TMZ on September 25. “He’s just moving forward, past everything that happened to him,” adding that Collin is “doing really well.”
Collin, who is one of the sextuplets born to Jon and Kate, joins his 23-year-old twin sisters, Cara and Madelyn, as well as his five other siblings: Leah, Alexis, Aaden, Joel, and Hannah, in navigating the complexities of their family dynamic. While Jon believes that Collin has found some “closure” by sharing his story publicly, he does not foresee any reconciliation between Collin and Kate. “If I had to predict, I don’t think that’ll ever happen,” he stated, citing “so much animosity” between them.
In addition to his allegations about his upbringing, Collin mentioned that he was discharged from the Marines due to being institutionalized by his mother in 2016, just before he was set to graduate from training. He recalled, “The paperwork was looked into, and they found out that I was in fact in an institution at one point in my life.”
Kate has not publicly commented on Collin’s allegations. Her lawyer, Richard Puelo, stated that she refrains from discussing the situation because her comments often get misconstrued. He emphasized that she “never wants to comment” as it does not change the past and believes she did not intentionally harm her children.
Jon and Kate were married from 1999 to 2009, capturing their lives with their eight children on the TLC reality series Jon & Kate Plus 8, which was later rebranded to Kate Plus 8 after their divorce.
