Cypress Hill is set to turn a decades-old joke from “The Simpsons” into reality this summer by performing alongside the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO).
The announcement, made on Monday, brings to life a gag from a classic 1996 episode of the animated series.
In the episode titled “Homerpalooza,” which aired nearly 30 years ago during the seventh season of “The Simpsons,” Cypress Hill was depicted booking the LSO to perform with them at Hullabalooza, a fictional music festival parodying Chicago’s Lollapalooza.
Now, Cypress Hill is set to make that fictional performance a reality at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall.
In an official statement, Cypress Hill expressed their excitement about the collaboration and acknowledged the foresight of “The Simpsons.”
“We are thrilled to be performing with the London Symphony Orchestra in such a prestigious venue as the Royal Albert Hall. It’s a dream come true, a collaboration only ‘The Simpsons’ could have predicted,” the group said.
The managing director of the LSO, Kathryn McDowell, also shared her enthusiasm for the event.
“After years of social media teasing it, many fans may have started to believe it would only be a pipedream — but the LSO is delighted to finally be joining Cypress Hill on stage and in person, and look forward to creating an unforgettable musical moment! Many thanks to the creators of ‘The Simpsons’ for the idea,” McDowell stated.
