Taurasi, known for her fierce competitive spirit and willingness to put everything on the line, found herself in hot water after a heated exchange with referees.
The former UConn Huskies star and Olympic gold medalist was penalized for what officials deemed excessive criticism during the second half of the game. As a result, she will be unavailable for the Phoenix Mercury’s upcoming game against the Atlanta Dream.
Per WNBA rules, a player is suspended after receiving a seventh technical foul in a season. While the league has the option to rescind the foul, it is unlikely in this case, meaning Taurasi will miss Tuesday night’s game.
