Imprisoned rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs is expected to face more than 10 new civil lawsuits in the coming days, according to Tony Buzbee, a lawyer representing dozens of accusers.
This announcement came as Buzbee filed a new case in New York on behalf of an unnamed male who claims he was assaulted by Combs in 2015.
The lawsuit alleges that the 23-year-old accuser was performing at an event Combs attended and was later drugged and assaulted at an afterparty.
Attorneys for Combs have denied the allegations, which include accusations of drugging, assaulting, and raping individuals. Combs is also facing federal charges of racketeering and sex trafficking, to which he has pleaded not guilty.
“Mr. Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process,” his attorneys said in a statement to the BBC.
“In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor.”
Tony Buzbee, a prominent Texas-based attorney, has been involved in several high-profile cases against Combs over the past year, including one that also named Jay-Z as a defendant.
Jay-Z has denied the allegations and requested the court to dismiss the case.
Buzbee stated that he plans to file more than 10 additional lawsuits in the next seven to 10 days as the 1 March deadline approaches.
This deadline marks the end of a New York law that temporarily allows victims of past sexual assault to file civil lawsuits despite expired statutes of limitations.
The latest lawsuit dates back to 2015, when the plaintiff was invited to perform at a Los Angeles nightclub where Combs was present.
According to the suit, an associate of Combs told the performer that the rapper had heard of his talent and would be watching his performance.
The plaintiff was allegedly told that if he did well, there might be an opportunity to discuss a deal with Bad Boy Records, the record label Combs founded in 1993.
Following what he believed was a successful performance, the plaintiff was invited to an afterparty, where the VIP section reportedly featured numerous bottles of Combs’ vodka brand Ciroc, along with marijuana, cocaine, and ecstasy.
An associate handed the plaintiff a drink, saying it was from Combs.
After consuming it, the plaintiff quickly felt lightheaded and realized he had been drugged before losing consciousness.
The lawsuit states that while drifting in and out of consciousness, the plaintiff observed Combs and his entourage allegedly engaging in group sexual activity with attendees who appeared to be drugged, unconscious, or possibly paid escorts.
The accuser claims he woke up to being assaulted by Combs.
When he tried to leave, Combs’ security intervened, and the rapper allegedly threatened to ruin his career.
Combs is currently facing more than 30 civil lawsuits alleging sexual assault and misconduct.
He remains in a New York jail awaiting a federal criminal trial on sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
