Sean “Diddy” Combs’ mother, Janice Small Combs, has expressed her heartbreak following the serious allegations leveled against her son, calling them “lies.”
The hip-hop mogul, known for hits like I’ll Be Missing You, was arrested last month on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, and is currently being held in a Manhattan detention center after being denied bail.
In a statement issued by her lawyer, Natlie G. Figgers, Ms. Small Combs shared her deep pain and frustration, stating, “It is devastating and profoundly saddening to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies.”
While she acknowledged that her son has “made mistakes in the past, as we all have,” she firmly defended him, asserting, “He is not the monster they have painted him to be.”
This statement comes just days after reports surfaced that Diddy could face additional lawsuits from over 100 men and women, accusing him of sexual assault, rape, and exploitation.
His legal team has denied these claims, calling them “false and defamatory.”
Diddy has faced a growing number of allegations since last year, when his former partner, Cassie Ventura, accused him of rape and abuse.
While that case was settled out of court shortly after it was filed, it was followed by lawsuits from 12 other women, many of whom claim the rapper drugged and assaulted them.
In March, federal agents raided his properties as part of the ongoing investigation, and in May, a 2016 video showing Diddy physically assaulting Ms. Ventura in a hotel room was leaked.
Ms. Small Combs referenced the video in her statement, acknowledging, “I am not here to portray my son as perfect because he is not,” but maintained her belief that her son is being unjustly targeted.
