Donald Glover recently shared his admiration for Kanye West during an interview for Complex’s GOAT Talk.
Glover, along with his Mr. and Mrs. Smith co-star Maya Erskine, engaged in a discussion about their perceptions of greatness in various fields.
When asked about the greatest rapper of all time, Glover didn’t hesitate to name Kanye West.
However, he acknowledged that his choice might be considered controversial. “I know that’s controversial,” Glover remarked during the conversation, which occurred around the 12:30 minute mark.
Erskine’s reaction was one of surprise, exclaiming, “Whoa!” But Glover stood by his choice, explaining, “But I feel like we would not have any of the rappers we have now without him.”
Glover and Erskine are set to star in Amazon Prime Video’s series “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” portraying the titular characters: two spies pretending to be a married couple.

The series, a remake of the 2005 film starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, promises to deliver action-packed espionage with Glover and Erskine at the helm.
During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Glover shared insights into the show and recounted advice he received from Brad Pitt himself.
Reflecting on Pitt’s guidance, Glover humorously remarked, “He didn’t give me any real point—he kind of Brad Pitted his way out of it.” Pitt’s charismatic approach left Glover feeling reassured, as the Hollywood icon simply expressed confidence in Glover’s abilities.
The star-studded cast of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” also includes Parker Posey, Wagner Moura, Paul Dano, Michaela Coel, and John Turturro. Glover, along with Francesca Sloane, serves as an executive producer for the series, alongside Hiro Murai and Stephen Glover.
