Former President Donald Trump once again turned heads with a social media post, this time targeting Taylor Swift and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, during the Super Bowl frenzy.
In a message posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump attempted to sway Swift’s political endorsement, suggesting that she should support him instead of President Joe Biden.
“I signed and was responsible for the Music Modernization Act (MMA) for Taylor Swift and all other Musical Artists,” he wrote.
The MMA, aimed at updating copyright laws and improving royalty payments for musicians, was indeed signed into law during Trump’s presidency.
However, legal experts have pointed out that Trump’s understanding of the act may be flawed. Dina Lapolt, a key attorney for the MMA, stated that Trump “doesn’t even know what the Music Modernization Act does,” casting doubt on his claims of personal involvement in its creation.
Trump’s post further asserted that he had made Swift “so much money” and insinuated that it would be “disloyal” for her to endorse Biden, despite her previous endorsement of Trump in the 2020 election.
In a peculiar addition, Trump acknowledged Swift’s relationship with Travis Kelce, referring to him as “her boyfriend” and expressing a favorable view of the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, despite their differing political leanings.
Swift, known for her advocacy and occasional political statements, has not yet publicly endorsed a candidate for the 2024 election.
Instead, she appears to be focusing on her personal life, notably her relationship with Kelce, who recently celebrated a Super Bowl victory with the Chiefs.
