Rolling Stone reports that in the waning days of his presidency, Donald Trump’s thoughts were preoccupied by a longstanding conflict with rapper Snoop Dogg.
Despite recent expressions of “love and respect” from Snoop towards the former president, Trump’s attitude remained colored by past animosity.
Snoop, who had initially criticized Trump, notably on the 2017 single “M.A.C.A. (Make America Crip Again),” had shifted gears by late 2020 and early 2021.
During this period, Snoop collaborated with the Trump administration in an attempt to secure a pardon for Death Row Records co-founder Michael “Harry-O” Harris, who was serving a life sentence for past convictions.
However, according to a former administration official cited by Rolling Stone, Trump’s sentiment towards Snoop took a negative turn. In the final days of his term, Trump reportedly expressed frustration, stating: “well, fuck him,” when discussing Snoop’s involvement in Harris’ clemency campaign.
The tipping point came on January 18, 2021, when Trump became aware of comments Snoop made to the Daily Beast, where he harshly criticized Trump and his supporters.

In response, Trump directed his staff to remove Harris’ name from the list of potential pardons as a form of retribution against Snoop.
Fortunately for Harris, activist Weldon Angelos, who was documenting Harris’ clemency campaign, possessed footage of Snoop speaking positively about Trump’s efforts in criminal justice reform.
Upon viewing the footage, Trump reversed his decision and instructed his staff to reinstate Harris’ name on the pardon list.
As a result, on the final day of Trump’s presidency, Harris was granted clemency
