Following the death of actor Drake Hogestyn, more details have emerged regarding the circumstances surrounding his passing.
The beloved star of Days of Our Lives died on September 28, just one day shy of his 71st birthday.
According to a death certificate obtained by People, Hogestyn succumbed to pancreatic cancer, with additional contributing factors including vomiting, dehydration, and whole-body toxicity.
In a heartfelt statement shared on the official Days of Our Lives X account, Hogestyn’s family announced his death “with heavy hearts.”
They revealed that he faced the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer—a “curveball” in his life—with remarkable strength and determination.
After an arduous battle, he passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones.
Hogestyn’s family praised him as a dedicated family man and a cherished colleague at Days of Our Lives.
“He was the most amazing husband, father, papa, and actor,” they stated. “He loved performing for the Days audience and sharing the stage with the greatest cast, crew, and production team in the business. We love him and we will miss him all the Days of our Lives.”
Alison Sweeney, Hogestyn’s co-star for nearly three decades, also reflected on their friendship, describing him as “an incredible man.”
In a poignant Instagram post on the day of his passing, she wrote, “He was funny, generous and thoughtful. He cared about every single scene, every person. He loved Days, the fans, and shared that passion with everyone on set. My heart breaks for his family; they meant everything to him. He was such a huge part of my life at Days. I will miss him terribly and treasure every story, every joke & every hug.”
