Fans of Future and Metro Boomin have been eagerly awaiting the release of their collaborative album, and their patience has finally been rewarded.
The Atlanta heavyweights dropped “We Don’t Trust You” on Thursday night, featuring a star-studded lineup including Playboi Carti, Young Thug, The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Rick Ross, and Kendrick Lamar.
This album marks the first official joint project between the rapper and mega-producer, fulfilling the desires of their dedicated fanbase.
Metro had teased the project as far back as 2023, following the success of the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse soundtrack. In a statement to Complex, he expressed his focus on the collaboration with Future, stating, “I’m not doing anything until that gets done.”
The release of the cinematic album trailer on March 8 heightened anticipation, revealing the album’s 17 tracks and showcasing Metro and Future cruising through the desert in Rolls-Royces.
The trailer also featured a voiceover from the late Prodigy, emphasizing the selectivity of the rap game.
While “We Don’t Trust You” marks their first official coheadlining release, Metro has been a significant part of Future’s career, contributing to several of his classic albums from 2014 to 2016. Their collaboration went dormant for a period, but they have now reunited for this highly anticipated project.
In a press release, Metro revealed that “We Don’t Trust You” is just the first of two joint albums planned with Future. Described as “two LPs’ worth of Metro’s sinister cinematic soundscapes and Future’s irresistible demon musicality,” these projects represent the culmination of rap’s most fruitful partnership.
