Gleb Savchenko is standing by his friend and former Dancing With the Stars costar Artem Chigvintsev, who has taken a hiatus from the show this season. Chigvintsev, a veteran of 12 seasons, has stepped back from the competition amid personal struggles, including his ongoing divorce from Nikki Garcia.
At the premiere of Dancing With the Stars Season 33 on September 17, Savchenko expressed his heartfelt support for Chigvintsev. “He’s part of the family,” Gleb told E! News. “He’s such a great dancer that people don’t realize. It’s not about quantity, it’s about quality.”
Savchenko emphasized Chigvintsev’s deep understanding of the show and his ability to craft beautiful routines. “He’s just my brother and I send him love and positivity,” Savchenko added, highlighting their close bond.
Despite Chigvintsev’s absence, Savchenko has kept in touch with him, particularly since Chigvintsev’s recent legal and personal issues. “I talk to him all the time,” Savchenko shared.
As Savchenko embarks on this season of Dancing With the Stars with his new partner, model Brooks Nader, he is eager to make his mark. “I’m super excited,” he said about returning to the dance floor. “I’ve been doing this for so long, for the last 11 years.”
Savchenko is also eyeing the Mirrorball Trophy with renewed determination. “I’ve never won the Mirrorball,” he acknowledged. “But this is the time. This is the year. We’re super competitive. Both of us.”
