Sean “Diddy” Combs, the renowned hip-hop mogul, has been arrested in New York City on undisclosed federal charges, according to a report from CBS, citing federal authorities.
The arrest in Manhattan comes after March raids on two of his properties in Los Angeles and Miami. These actions were part of an “ongoing investigation” into sex trafficking, according to officials involved.
Marc Agnifilo, Mr. Combs’s attorney, expressed disappointment over the arrest, maintaining his client’s innocence. “He is an innocent man,” Agnifilo stated, adding that they were prepared to fight the charges.
Combs has been the subject of various accusations in recent years, ranging from sexual assault to abuse. One of the most prominent allegations came from his former partner, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, though the artist has consistently denied all claims.
Sources told CBS that the arrest is linked to an ongoing investigation led by US homeland security. Damian Williams, US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, confirmed the arrest on Monday evening.
“Federal agents arrested Sean Combs this evening based on a sealed indictment filed by the SDNY,” Williams stated, further adding that details will be revealed when the indictment is unsealed on Tuesday.
Combs, who is facing several civil lawsuits, has been accused of serious crimes, including raping an underage girl and attempting to manipulate a producer into engaging in sexual acts.
His attorney reaffirmed the musician’s commitment to proving his innocence. “Mr. Combs looks forward to clearing his name in court,” Agnifilo said in a statement. He also condemned the prosecution as unjust, describing Combs as a music icon, devoted family man, and philanthropist who has dedicated 30 years to building an empire and uplifting the Black community.
The rapper’s legal troubles began in November 2023 when Cassie filed a lawsuit against him. Shortly after, two more women came forward with claims of abuse, including one who alleged that Combs had choked her until she lost consciousness. At the time, Combs denied the accusations, with his representatives dismissing them as a “money grab.”
Further legal issues emerged in December when another civil suit accused him of sex trafficking a 17-year-old girl. In February 2024, Rodney Jones Jr., a former producer, filed a lawsuit claiming Combs made inappropriate advances and attempted to “groom” him for sexual encounters.
The controversy intensified in March when authorities raided Combs’s properties, stopping him at Miami airport as he prepared to travel to the Bahamas. He was forced to hand over electronic devices to investigators.
