Authorities have detained an individual on Wednesday following an alleged attempt to break into the mansion of renowned rapper Drake in Toronto.
The incident, confirmed by the Toronto Police Service, has drawn attention to the security concerns surrounding the high-profile property.
“Officers were called after a person attempted to gain access to the property. The person was apprehended under the mental health act and taken to get medical assistance,” the police disclosed. Further details regarding the suspect were not immediately available.
This attempted break-in follows another unsettling event late Tuesday night, during which a security guard stationed outside the gates of Drake’s residence was shot.
The incident occurred while the guard was on duty, prompting swift police response. A vehicle reportedly fled the scene shortly afterward.
The Toronto Police Service has yet to confirm whether Drake was present at the time of the shooting. According to their latest update, the security guard was discovered “suffering from an apparent gunshot wound” and remains hospitalized with serious injuries. The identity of the injured guard has not been disclosed to the public.
