John Galliano has announced his departure from Maison Margiela after 10 years as creative director.
In an emotional statement on Instagram, the 64-year-old expressed heartfelt gratitude, saying his “heart overflows with joyous gratitude, and my soul smiles.”
Galliano, whose current five-year contract reportedly neared its end, chose not to renew it.
His final year saw remarkable success with the Artisanal 2024 collection, praised for its innovative designs and worn by stars like Bad Bunny and Ariana Grande at the Met Gala.
Galliano’s tenure elevated Margiela from a cult label into a global fashion powerhouse, with sales surging by over 20% in consecutive years.
Reflecting on his journey, he thanked his fashion family for their unwavering support, promising that “when the time is right, all will be revealed” about his next venture.
