From her upbringing in the midst of parental addiction and depression to her landmark legal victory against her former record label, Blackground Records, JoJo shares candid insights into her triumphs and tribulations.
The memoir delves into JoJo’s quest to piece together her identity amidst a turbulent period of rebellion and self-discovery, ultimately leading her to a place of growth and self-realization. It provides readers with a raw and unfiltered perspective on her life, both onstage and off.
According to JoJo’s Instagram announcement, she embarked on the journey of writing “Over the Influence” nearly two years ago, coinciding with the planning of the 20th anniversary celebration of her debut album, released in June 2004.
JoJo expressed her desire to connect with readers who have experienced disillusionment and disconnection, yet remain determined to find themselves.
