Renowned rapper Kendrick Lamar has solidified his residential footprint on both coasts with the recent acquisition of a Brooklyn penthouse.
The news broke on Friday, December 1, as reported by The New York Times, revealing that K-Dot has invested in a property within a 106-unit condominium situated near the waterfront in Brooklyn Heights.
The Compton native reportedly spent $8.6 million on the New York City apartment, culminating months of exploration in the metropolis. Spanning 3,140 square feet, the 36-year-old artist’s new dwelling boasts four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms.
Notably, it features floor-to-ceiling windows providing panoramic views of iconic landmarks, including the Brooklyn Bridge, lower Manhattan, and the East River.
While Kendrick Lamar extends his living arrangements to the East Coast, rising artist Scar Lip has celebrated a milestone on a more personal scale. The Bronx native recently acquired her inaugural piece of real estate, underscoring her flourishing career since the release of her breakout hit “This Is New York” earlier this year.
Taking to Instagram in early October, Scar Lip proudly showcased her new home, reflecting on her journey from the foster care system to homeownership.

“I went from being in the foster care system to now getting my first apartment,” she shared. “This is my new home, y’all.” Despite the modest size of her apartment, Scar Lip expressed determination for future success, stating, “I don’t care if my apartment is small; soon I’ll have a mansion. Shit takes time purrr.” Her achievement garnered support from industry figures such as Busta Rhymes, Ginuwine, supermodel Naomi Campbell, and others.
“Incredible young sis,” Busta Rhymes commented. “You are just getting started!! So proud of you and continue on your Blessed journey. We are with you, Queen!!” Ginuwine extended congratulations, stating, “You deserve it, blessings, and keep doing yah thing,” while Naomi Campbell added, “Congratulations @scar_lip can’t wait to see your journey unfold.”
Scar Lip’s ascent has been evident throughout the year, receiving a significant co-sign from Snoop Dogg, who joined the remix of “This Is New York,” renaming it “This Is Cali.” The collaboration followed praise from fellow Bronx native Cardi B, and Swizz Beatz went on record comparing the “Glizzy Gobbler” rapper to the late DMX.
