Lady Gaga can smile knowing her real-life cupid is none other than her mother, Cynthia Germanotta. In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, the Joker: Folie à Deux star revealed that it was her mom who played matchmaker between her and now-fiancé Michael Polansky, who proposed earlier this year.
“My mom said, ‘I just met your husband,’” the 38-year-old singer recalled. “And I was like, ‘I’m not ready to meet my husband!’” Despite her initial hesitations, Gaga eventually decided to take her mom’s advice and meet Polansky, a businessman known for founding the Parker Foundation alongside Napster co-founder Sean Parker.
Gaga described their first meeting at a birthday party at Sean Parker’s house. “I went to the party and I met him, and he was just the most amazing man I’d ever met. We talked for, like, three hours, and then I couldn’t find him, but then he called me,” she shared.
Expressing her gratitude, Gaga added, “I’m really grateful for my mom’s advice. You don’t always take your mom’s advice, but mom did good!”
The couple made their romance public during a New Year’s Eve party in Las Vegas in 2020, and Gaga confirmed their relationship on Instagram shortly after. Last year, she mentioned to The Hollywood Reporter, “My dogs and the man that I love are my whole life.”
Engagement rumors began swirling in April when Gaga was spotted wearing a large diamond ring. The speculation was confirmed in July when she introduced Polansky as her “fiancé” at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
While the couple has much to celebrate as they prepare for their upcoming wedding, parenthood isn’t on their agenda just yet. Gaga dispelled pregnancy rumors in June with a TikTok caption that read, “Not pregnant—just down bad cryin’ at the gym.”
