Lily Allen has announced a temporary hiatus from her podcast Miss Me?, citing struggles with her mental health.
Speaking on the BBC Sounds show, which she co-hosts with Miquita Oliver, the 39-year-old pop star and actor revealed she has been experiencing panic attacks and is in a “tough period.”
“I’m finding it hard to be interested in anything. I’m really not in a good place,” Allen admitted, adding that her mental health has been “spiraling out of control” despite her efforts to manage it.
She recounted moments where anxiety disrupted her daily life, including leaving a Christmas lunch and a theatre outing due to panic attacks.
Allen’s break comes amidst speculation about a split from her husband, Stranger Things actor David Harbour.
While she did not directly address the rumors, she said she is stepping away to focus on her well-being, telling listeners, “I’m going away next week… You’re not going to hear me for a few weeks.” She clarified that despite rumors, she is not entering drug rehab and has not relapsed.
The singer, now based in the US with her two daughters, emphasized her decision to disconnect from her phone, saying it has been exacerbating her struggles.
“They’re not doing us any good,” she remarked.
Her co-host Miquita Oliver reassured listeners she would continue hosting the show during Allen’s absence, promising to “wait for the captain to return.”
The podcast, launched in 2023, features the duo sharing personal stories and discussing cultural moments in twice-weekly episodes.
Beyond the podcast, Allen has been balancing a successful acting career.
She made her West End debut in 2:22 – A Ghost Story in 2021 and is set to star in Hedda, a reimagining of Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler, at Bath Theatre Royal later this year.
She will also appear in a film adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s Night and Day.
Despite her current challenges, Allen expressed hope in previous episodes about returning to music, hinting at plans to enter the studio later this year.
