Rapper Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) bares his emotions about the miscarriage he and his partner, actress Megan Fox, experienced in a new song.
The single, titled “Don’t Let Me Go,” debuted alongside a music video on Wednesday. In the track, the 33-year-old artist reflects on his past, his struggles, and his mental and emotional state.
One of the most poignant moments of the song arrives in the second verse, where MGK raps, “Rehab patient with a pen and some paper / this psychiatrist keeps evaluating / How can I live with the fact that my hand wasn’t on her stomach when we lost the baby?”
This admission follows Fox’s own revelation of the miscarriage in November through her poetry book, “Pretty Boys Are Poisonous.”
The 37-year-old actress shared the heartbreaking experience of seeing an ultrasound of a baby girl at 10 weeks, expressing regret and sorrow in her writing.
In one excerpt, Fox reflects on what could have been, writing, “Maybe if you hadn’t… Maybe if I had…” She also expresses longing to hold the baby’s hand and hear her laugh, juxtaposed with the painful reality of saying goodbye and the physical and emotional trauma of the loss.
During an interview with Good Morning America about her poetry book and the miscarriage, Fox described the ordeal as “very difficult” for both her and MGK.
She explained that it was an unprecedented challenge for them individually and as a couple, prompting them to navigate the meaning of the loss and its impact on their lives.
